Course description: The PADI Tec Trimix 65 course enables technical divers to extend their depth limits to 65m by introducing helium to reduce narcotic effects of gases previously used. The resulting trimix (oxygen, nitrogen and helium) has benefits, but you must be trained how to use it correctly and planning becomes even more essential.
The course comprises of 3 sections: theory, practical applications and dives. The theory sections which teach participants about some of the key principles in trimix diving, such as depth ranges, exposure planning, selecting mixes, suit inflation systems, emergency procedures, decompression software and multi-gas computers. The practical applications include gas analysis, dive planning, cylinder marking and mission planning. The dives run through a number of previously learned skills and build on these, including pre-dive checks, SAC rate swims, long hose gas sharing, no mask swim, stage cylinder handling (up to 4 cylinders), gas shutdown drills, DSMB deployment, dealing with emergency situations and gas switch procedures.
