Scuba Dog (aka Mika) has been a busy little puppy since she joined us at Purple Turtle Diving in the summer. She’s been out to various sites and on trips (keep an eye out for her adventures in Lundy!).
Scuba Dog has an exciting couple of months ahead of her! She’s looking forward to helping with surface support on her first Tec 50 course in January, with a day at Wraysbury (where she’s looking forward to hopefully seeing her friend Pepper) and 3 days at the National Diving and Activity Centre (and the delicious food at the Huntsman).
In the meantime, she’s decided to do some specialities through the winter months, starting with her Computer Nitrox (Enriched Air) course on the 7th of January, so that she can understand how and why her divers can extend their bottom time on their favourite dives as well as gaining an understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of diving with enriched air.
Next on her schedule is an Equipment Speciality course, so that she doesn’t feel so lost when the other staff are talking about equipment and how to fix all the equipment she doesn’t currently understand! She’s been busy studying and contemplating what she’s just read. She’s finding the Equipment Touch easy to use on Toni’s iPad, even if it does get a bit smudgy when she uses her nose to navigate through the manual!
Next on her itinerary, she’s decided it’s time to brush up on her CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and First Aid skills at her Emergency First Response (EFR) Primary and Secondary Care with AED (Automated External Defibrillator) course on the 22nd of January. She knows that a large proportion of accidents happen at home or at work, so having these basic life skills are key.
She’s also been studying hard for her Navigation Speciality course, but hasn’t yet decided when to do it! She’s working on keeping the compass flat with the lubber line going straight through her body…
